Cousteau 1910 - 1997

Perhaps the last great adventurer of our time, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, passed away this week in Paris. One of several websites dedicated to the work and legacy he left behind carried this brief obituary.

"There is no happiness here today. As you all probably know, on this day, Wednesday, June 25th 1997, our friend has gone on to the world of silence.

Please help the dreams of a better world for us all continue by joining and supporting the Cousteau Society."

Many of us grew up with Jacques Cousteau, his explorations and beloved Calypso will always remain an inspiration, if not a vision, for a world where we may all one day travel safely.
