Andrew Garton, born in Sydney '62, has spent several years travelling, extending the frontiers of cyberspace, and many more years of writing and performing throughout Australia. He settled in Melbourne in 1994.Andrew's work seeks to engage technology and theatre in a range of sonic and performance explorations. His current work is a multi-media opera, Ausländer und Staatenlose, that integrates generative music compositions, computer animation, interactive tools across computer networks, live choral and ensemble performances.
Almost all of Andrew's travelling has involved research and consultancy for Pegasus Networks and the Association for Progressive Communications. He has had a long interest in public access media, and considers computer networks perhaps the most public and accessible of all.
Andrew is presently a Masters student at the Centre for New Media Arts, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
